The CancerCare Manitoba building will be lit up the entire month of December in honour, memory and gratitude of Manitobans affected by cancer.

It’s part of their Shine a Light initiative, which sees a total of 1,250 lights lit up at the start of December each and every year.

“Light is seen as a symbol of life, hope, guidance and truth,” said CancerCare Manitoba. “This light display in the darkest month of the year will inspire, encourage and uplift those touched by cancer, while raising funds in support of CancerCare Manitoba.”

Strings of white lights have been hung in the stairwell windows of the CancerCare Manitoba building from the 7th floor all the way down to the main floor, with each light representing a person whose name was recognized on the listing placed in the windows as part of the display.

A special lighting ceremony was held on Monday evening. The lights will remain on display until the end of December.
