Sleep in Heavenly Peace Winnipeg recently celebrated the grand opening of its Dream Builders Warehouse.

In April 2025, the volunteer organization that builds beds for children sleeping on the floor announced a new space, noting that Manitoba Blue Cross had signed a five-year lease for the local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a move that will allow the non-profit to more than double its bed production for kids in the community.

“Supporters, volunteers, donors and friends gathered for an open house Thursday filled with conversation, community spirit and incredible food,” said Sleep in Heavenly Peace in a post on Facebook. “The night was highlighted by the heartfelt generosity of numerous bedding items, including a remarkable donation of 120 handmade quilts from the Crystal Springs Hutterite Colony.”

They also received a generous donation, for the third year in a row, from Canadian Veterans Manitoba and their supporters.

“It was especially meaningful to welcome so many people who have shaped our chapter’s success, including the family who received the very first beds we built in February 2020,” said Sleep in Heavenly Peace. “The evening was a beautiful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to ensure that no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.”

The Winnipeg chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace currently builds around 400 beds a year. With this new building, they hope to increase that to 1,000.
