Dozens of Winnipeggers made their way to Selkirk Avenue for the annual Lighting up the Avenue event.

Organized by Indigenous Vision for the North End, a coalition of community-based organizations, the event featured a variety of activities for the entire family.

From picture frame and gingerbread house making to hot chocolate, bannock and soup, they had everything.

“Thank you to all of the community members who came out to this year’s Lighting Up the Avenue!” said Indigenous Vision for the North End in a post on social media. “It was so great to see all your smiling faces enjoy all the festivities!”

The event took over many of the businesses along Selkirk Avenue, including the Indigenous Family Centre, North End Women’s Centre and the North End Community Renewal Corp, lighting up the busy street from Aikins to McKenzie.

“A HUGE thank you goes out to all our amazing partners and your staff for putting on a FUN-tastic evening for the community.”

Lighting up the Avenue has been a cherished North End tradition for over 15 years.
