A man arrested in connection with a string of arsons in Winnipeg has been rearrested.
Jesse Wheatland, 35, who was previously charged with 22 offences tied to arson at restaurants, bars and two constituency offices, is now being charged in connection with three additional fires that occurred between August and November 2025, including a fire in the 100 block of Disraeli Freeway, one in the 900 block of Corydon Avenue and a third fire in the 1000 Nairn Avenue.
Officers executed a search warrant and found and seized evidence in his home in the 200 block of St. Mary’s Road and a storage unit in the 300 blcok of Higgins Avenue.
Wheatland, who was already incarcerated in the Milner Ridge Correctional Centre, was rearrested on Dec. 9 and charged with Arson x 3, Possess Incendiary Material x 2, and Intimidation x 2.
He has since been returned to custody.
