Snow clearing prompts residential parking ban across Winnipeg

The residential parking ban will be returning to Winnipeg this weekend to clear residential neighbourhoods of ice and snow. 

The ban will be in effect Sunday, December 21, 2025 beginning at 7 a.m. until Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 7 p.m. 

During the duration of the ban, the winter route parking ban will be suspended. 

Motorists will be allowed to park overnight on designated winter routes from Sunday at 7 a.m. until Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Drivers must follow other temporary or unrelated signage that may prohibit parking on these routes including no parking during rush hour and loading zones. 

The winter route parking ban will be reinstated when the residential ban ends. This will once again prohibit parking on designated winter routes daily, from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Residents should confirm their zone letter in advance by: 

Vehicles parked in violation of the residential parking ban may:

  • Receive a $200 ticket ($150 if paid early) 

ALPR tickets will be mailed rather than put on windshields. Enforcement officers will continue to hand-deliver tickets when necessary. 

During the snow clearing operation, motorists will see approximately 300 pieces of heavy equipment being used. Drivers are reminded to use extreme caution when driving near heavy equipment.
