Little Grand Rapids RCMP are investigating after two Community Safety Officers were threatened with a chainsaw earlier this week.
Mounties say the Community Safety Officers were flagged down by a community member of the Little Grand Rapids First Nation to help them retrieve personal items left at a residence she shares with her partner.
When they arrived at the home at around 1 a.m. on Monday, the man, who was standing at the door armed with a knife and a handsaw, refused to retrieve the items. The man then uttered threats, approached the officers, dropped both weapons, picked up a chainsaw and started it.
The officers called the RCMP and asked for assistance. They arrived within minutes and found the suspect standing in the doorway, holding a chainsaw in his hands.
Officers were quickly able to de-escalate the situation and get the suspect to drop the chainsaw before safely taking him into custody.
The 33-year old suspect is facing a long list of charges, including assault with a weapon x5 and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose x 3.
He has since been released from custody with a future court date.
Little Grand Rapids RCMP continue to investigate.
