Smoke could be seen billowing out of the home when crews arrived. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly.
There is no word on injuries.
Crews remain on scene, and as a result, Sargent Avenue is closed between Arlington Street and Simcoe Street.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and find another route.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
