Winnipeg police are asking for the public’s help as they investigate a deliberate fire set inside a Norwood West restaurant in late November.

On Nov. 20, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., officers were called to a suspicious fire inside a restaurant in the 1‑99 block of St. Mary’s Road, between Marion and Horace Streets. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit, who were patrolling nearby, were dispatched and arrived shortly after 10 p.m.

Police say a group of five adults, two women and three men, had been inside the restaurant. They ordered food and alcoholic beverages, but when it came time to pay, someone set a fire inside the business.

The blaze caused significant damage but was put out before emergency personnel arrived. There were no reported injuries. All five suspects fled the scene on foot before police reached the restaurant.

Investigators believe the fire was deliberately set as a diversion to help the suspects escape.

Now, Fire Investigators with the Major Crimes Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating one of the female suspects.

She is described as:

  • Indigenous/Metis
  • Between 20 and 30 years old
  • Medium build
  • Brown/red curly hair
  • Wearing a black tank top
  • With a visible tattoo on her chest/breast area

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Winnipeg Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
