A man previously arrested in connection with hate-related graffiti in the city is back in custody, this time on unrelated charges.
Just one day after being released on an undertaking, the 34-year-old man broke into a home in the Crescentwood neighbourhood.
Winnipeg police say the homeowners were awoken by their security alarm at around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 8 and found a man standing in their house. They yelled at the man, and he quickly fled before officers arrived.
No thefts or damage were reported.
Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him. Police say he provided the police with a false name.
The 34-year-old suspect has been charged with several offences, including break & enter with intent – dwelling house, public mischief and failure to comply with conditions of undertaking.
He remains in custody.
