A Winnipeg barbershop went viral this week after one of their customers received a life-changing call while getting his haircut.

Danny Zhilkin, a 22-year-old forward with the Manitoba Moose, was called up by his coach to play for the Winnipeg Jets.

This moment was captured on the security camera footage at Avail Barbershop and posted by Zhilkin’s barber, Arjay Policarpio.

“What an amazing moment to witness with my own two eyes, truly inspiring,” said Policarpio in a post on social media. “Especially being an aspiring athlete myself, to watch this moment unfold right in front of me has inspired me even more to continue working on my goals of becoming a professional athlete one day.”

Zhilkin has had a strong start to the season with the Moose, posting seven goals and 14 points in 30 games, a career high at the AHL level.

Policarpio said it was a privilege to witness a young, talented athlete receive a phone call he’s been working so hard for.

“God is good,” said Policarpio.

In the video, Zhilkin takes a phone call.. After he hangs up, Policarpio shakes his hand, and another staff member gives him a fist pump before Zhilkin becomes overwhelmed with emotions. Policarpio gets up and hugs Zhilkin before the end of the video.

“Danny Zhilkin, you’re an inspiration, brother. Forever proud of you, will continue being proud of you for all of your ventures,” said Policarpio. “Well deserved, my friend, well deserved.”
