For the first time since 2023, the National Hockey League will host the Heritage Classic, and Winnipeg will play host to the event.
The Winnipeg Jets will take on the Montreal Canadiens at Princess Auto Stadium in an exciting outdoor showdown on October 25, 2026. This marks the second time the game has taken place in Winnipeg.
The game will be played 17 days past the 15th anniversary of the Jets’ first home game since returning to Winnipeg from Atlanta in 2011, where they lost 5-1 to the Canadiens.
To celebrate the history of the Winnipeg Jets, or Jets 2.1 as Jets executive chairman Mark Chipman says, several familiar faces will be taking part in the alumni game.
Former Jets captain, Blake Wheeler, says he wanted to be part of it for the guys. “It’s a built-in excuse for a family reunion.”
Wheeler was on hand for the press conference, along with former Montreal captain Mike Keane. “It was something you’ll never forget,” Keane said on his time in Montreal. “When you put on the jersey at a young age, you look around and see the players up on the walls and in the rafters, legends of people before you.”
The preliminary roster for the alumni game was released on Tuesday afternoon and features Mike Keane, Paul Byron, David Desharnais, Patrice Brisebois, David Savard, and Manitoba native Dale Weise for the Montreal Canadiens.
Winnipeg’s preliminary roster along with Blake Wheeler includes Andrew Ladd, Bryan Little, Mathieu Perreault, Paul Stastny, Chris Thorburn, and Dustin Byfuglien
Fans will get to see the alumni game on October 24, 2026 at Canada Life Centre.
