The City of Winnipeg has awarded a total of $2,516,456 in grants to 60 non-profit organizations through the new 2025 Community and Neighbourhood Grant Program.
The funding is designed to support groups working to make the city safer, more vibrant and more inclusive. More than $15 million in requests were received, underscoring the high demand for community support. Information on the program and a full list of awards can be found on the City’s neighbourhood grant page.
A notable share of the funding, $725,000, has been directed to 13 organizations that support people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. This represents a 117 per cent increase over similar funding provided last year. Some of those groups include 1JustCity, and Agape Table.
This is the first round of grants awarded under the Community and Neighbourhood Grant Program, which replaces the previous system of separate application processes managed by individual City departments.
City officials say the new program streamlines applications, making funding more equitable and easier for community groups to access. They add it ensures organizations whose work aligns with priorities adopted by City Council can secure the resources they need to deliver their services.
Grants have been distributed across four funding streams, including environmental and green projects, recreation, community well-being, and arts and culture.
The grant program is expected to re-open for applications in Summer 2026.
