Classes cancelled after threat prompts evacuation at Bernie Wolfe School

A threat against a school in the River East Transcona School Division led to an evacuation Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 8:30 a.m., parents of students at Bernie Wolfe School were notified that all staff and students were being evacuated. 

Students were safely relocated to an alternate location with their teachers while the Winnipeg Police Service assessed the situation.

Police attended the school to investigate the threat and later confirmed there is no threat to public safety and no physical threats were discovered at the school.

Later in the morning, a second email was sent to parents and guardians informing them that classes had been cancelled for the remainder of the day.

The investigation is ongoing.
