Manitoba RCMP have laid charges against a man in connection with a dangerous person alert last week.
39-year-old Albert McKay, also known as Joshua Paupanekis, was arrested on Friday after entering a home in Pimicikamak Cree Nation, striking a 24-year-old man with a hammer and abducting a 20-year-old woman.
It took officers about 24 hours to locate McKay in a vacant property. The female victim, who suffered minor injuries, was found in the residence and taken to the Nursing Station for treatment before being released.
McKay remains in custody and is facing charges of assault with a weapon x2 and failure to comply with an undertaking x2.
His first court appearance was scheduled for Monday in Thompson.
