A yellow level fog advisory has been issued for southern Manitoba, with Environment Canada warning that near-zero visibility is expected Friday night and into Saturday morning.
The advisory covers all of southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg and surrounding communities, as well as portions of southeastern Saskatchewan.
Forecasters say light winds, high humidity, and clear skies will allow widespread fog to redevelop through the evening and overnight hours.
Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times, creating hazardous travel conditions in some areas. The impact level is listed as moderate, with high confidence in the forecast.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve through the day Saturday as temperatures rise and fog dissipates. However, Environment Canada says fog is likely to return to many areas again Saturday night.
Drivers are urged to use caution if travelling. Motorists should turn on their headlights, slow down, and maintain a safe following distance when encountering reduced visibility.
