Watermain break floods police HQ, building closed to public

Public access to the Winnipeg Police Service headquarters has been temporarily restricted following a watermain break Saturday evening.

In a media advisory issued late Saturday night, the Winnipeg Police Service said the watermain break occurred during the early evening hours and caused flooding in several areas of the building at 245 Smith Street.

Police confirmed the break has now been contained. However, public access to headquarters will remain restricted while further assessments take place.

Officials say that Station Duty access could also be affected on Sunday, Feb. 15.

Residents are still able to file reports online. In emergencies, the public is advised to call 911.

For non-emergency matters, police can be reached at 204-986-6222.

The Winnipeg Police Service says it will provide updates as more information becomes available.
