Man, 68, charged after striking picket line worker with vehicle

A 68-year-old man from Ste. Anne was arrested over the weekend after allegedly using his vehicle as a weapon.

St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP say the incident happened at around 1 p.m. on Road 52 N in the RM of Taché.

Mounties say a man driving refused to stop for people on the picket line and pushed a 54-year-old man with his vehicle. This caused the man to fall into a nearby ditch, injuring himself. The victim then got up and approached the suspect, who pushed the victim to the ground one more time. The suspect then left in his vehicle. 

The victim suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers quickly identified the suspect. He was arrested for assault and assault with a weapon. He was released and is expected in court in early April.

St. Pierre-Jolys RCMP continue to investigate.
