A 37-year-old male has been charged following a string of armed robberies involving taxi drivers in Downtown Winnipeg.
Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) responded to three armed robberies between February 17 and March 1, 2026.
A taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue on February 17, 2026. The suspect was armed with a firearm.
A few days later on February 21, a taxi driver was robbed of personal property and their taxi cab was stolen by a male suspect armed with a firearm near the intersection of Agnes Street and Sargent Avenue.
On March 1, in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue, a taxi driver was robbed by a male suspect armed with a firearm.
No injuries were reported in any of the above cases.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigations and has identified a suspect believed to be involved in all three robberies.
A 37-year-old male has been charged with three counts of Robbery, three counts of Possession of a Weapon, and three counts of Use of Imitation Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence. He was detained in custody.
