A 20-year-old male has been charged after RCMP seized $500,000 worth of suspected cocaine on Wednesday night.

At approximately 8:40 p.m., God’s Lake Narrows RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a property located on the island near God’s Lake Narrows. Officers were informed that the suspect may be armed with a firearm.

When officers arrived, they were advised that the suspect had fled on foot and may be on the ice. While officers remained on scene, the suspect then exited the property and was arrested without incident. No firearm was located on him.

Officers searched the suspect’s room and located a gun safe that contained ammunition and several wrapped packages of a substance believed to be cocaine.

The weight of the seized drugs was 2936 grams, which holds an estimated community street value nearing $500,000.

Officers tested the packages, which indicated the substance to be cocaine laced with fentanyl.

A 20-year-old male was charged with numerous offences, including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose. He was remanded into custody.

God’s Lake Narrows RCMP continue to investigate.
