33-year-old man arrested after attempting to rob Crestview area business

 A 33-year-old man is in custody after robbing a retail business in the Crestview area. 

The Winnipeg Police Service says the suspect entered a business in the 3600 block of Portage Avenue at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday and told employees he intended to rob the store. 

Police say he then walked up to a cashier pulled out a small-edged weapon and raised it in the air in a threatening manner. 

When officers arrived, the suspect was still in the store and they were able to take him into custody without incident.

No injuries were reported. 

The 33-year-old suspect has been charged with robbery and failure to comply with a condition of release order. 

He remains in custody
