Fire crews were kept busy Saturday morning battling a fire in the city’s West End.
The fire broke out just before 10 a.m. in a two storey home on Agnes Street near St. Matthews Avenue.
Large plumes of smoke and heavy flames were pouring out the home when crews arrived.
Seven people were assessed at the scene, with three people being transported to hospital in critical condition and two in stable. The other two did not require a trip to the hospital.
Two neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, and a Winnipeg Transit bus responded to the scene to act as temporary shelter for displaced residents.
The fire was declared under control just before 3 p.m.
The home sustained significant fire and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
