A woman was left uninjured thanks to bystanders who saved her from a random attack during broad daylight.

On Friday, just before 12 p.m., a woman was walking in the 100 block of Rupert Avenue when she was approached and physically assaulted by an unknown man.

The woman was knocked to the ground, where the assault continued until bystanders stepped in and kept her safe in a vehicle.

The suspect continued on foot to the Logan Avenue and Princess Street intersection, where he approached a 2025 Porshe Macan, causing approximately $1,000 in damage.

The suspect attempted to assault other pedestrians before several bystanders intervened and apprehended the male while they waited for police to arrive.

Winnipeg police say the assault is considered random.
