Every year, Calvin Christian School Grade 5 classes come together to collect winter gear for kids in need.
It’s part of their curriculum and an opportunity to learn about community service and giving back.
This year’s clothing drive, like in past years, was very successful, with the kids collecting numerous bags of winter gear to donate to Koats for Kids.
“Imagine a winter in Winnipeg without warm clothing<” said Calvin Christian School in a post on social media. “For kids, having a coat, mitts, boots, and a scarf doesn’t only make the difference between being cold or comfortable, it can also make the difference between staying at home or going to school to learn.”
Calvin Christian School says being able to dress for Winnipeg’s cold weather means those children can stay connected to friends and stay in the classroom.
“Your donations to Koats for Kids are a commitment to making sure our community’s young people can be all they can be,” said Calvin Christian School. “Thank you to everyone who contributed!”
