The extreme cold looks to be continuing this weekend in Manitoba before warming up significantly next week.
Shortly before 4 p.m. on December 12, Environment Canada issued a yellow level warning for parts of Manitoba.
During to cold snap, wind chill values are expected to be below 40 at times.
Dress warmly in layers that you can remove if you get too warm. The outer layer should be wind-resistant. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.
Areas currently in a yellow warning include:
- Virden – Souris, Man. (051100)
- Brandon – Neepawa – Carberry – Treherne, Man. (051200)
- Melita – Boissevain – Turtle Mountain Provincial Park, Man. (051300)
- Killarney – Pilot Mound – Manitou, Man. (051400)
- City of Winnipeg, Man. (052100)
- Portage la Prairie – Headingley – Brunkild – Carman, Man. (052300)
- Morden – Winkler – Altona – Morris, Man. (052500)
- Steinbach – St. Adolphe – Emerson – Vita – Richer, Man. (052600)
- Ste. Rose – McCreary – Alonsa – Gladstone, Man. (055300)
- Dauphin – Russell – Roblin – Winnipegosis, Man. (055100)
