
Winnipeg police have arrested a woman following an attempted carjacking at McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard on Sunday afternoon.
According to police, a woman in her 50s had picked up an unknown female passenger near Ashern, Man., while driving into the city. The victim had agreed to bring the suspect into Winnipeg and drop them off near McPhillips Street and Inkster Boulevard.
When they arrived at McPhillips and Inkster around 4 p.m., the suspect allegedly pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and attempted to steal the vehicle.
Officers arrived on the scene while both the suspect and victim were still present. The firearm was later determined to be a pellet gun. The victim was not injured.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
A 30-year-old woman from Winnipeg, has been charged with robbery, possession of a weapon, and use of an imitation firearm during the commission of an indictable offence.
Police say the suspect remains in custody.
