Motorists may want to plan alternate routes as a major overpass is scheduled to be under construction until the end of 2027.

Construction began on the Lagimodiere Twin Overpass at Concordia Avenue project on Wednesday.

The project includes major renovation of the overpass bridge structures to further preserve and extend their life. Roadwork on Lagimodiere Boulevard between Almey Avenue and Grassie Boulevard. Roadwork on Concordia Avenue between Molson Street and Peguis Street.

Phase one includes work on the southbound bridge and southbound Lagimodiere. Phase one is expected to be completed in November 2026.

Phase two is scheduled to begin in January 2027 with work on the northbound bridge and northbound Lagimodiere. Phase two is expected to be completed in November 2027.

Throughout the construction, pedestrian, cycling and transit service will be maintained. Traffic on Lagimodiere and Concordia will be reduced to one lane per direction.

Interchange ramps will be closed for approximately six to eight weeks for pavement repairs, which may impact the ability to connect between Lagimodiere and Concordia.
