Manitobans have stepped up to help a family from La Broquiere that suffered an immeasurable loss over the holidays.
Around noon on Boxing Day, Casey Pauls, 41, was snowmobiling around his property when he was involved in a collision that claimed his life.
“Casey was outside with his family, simply enjoying a winter day and running their dog around the yard, when an unimaginable accident occurred,” said Brittany Andres in a post on GoFundMe. “In a moment, everything changed.”
Pauls leaves behind his partner Ally and their 10-month-old son, Ozzy.
“Casey was the kind of man who lived fully and loved deeply. He was a devoted and hands-on father, passionate about seeing Ozzy thrive and grow. He was a loving and supportive partner to Ally, always showing up for his family with dedication and care,” said Andres. “Casey had an infectious zest for life. He loved playing music, staying active, and spending time with friends and family. He was incredibly hardworking, loyal, and the kind of friend who would go above and beyond without hesitation. He was hilarious, warm, and always up for a good conversation or a hangout.”
To help in the journey that lies ahead, family and friends have created a GoFundMe to help Ally and her son.
The family says all funds raised will go towards funeral and memorial expenses, immediate living expenses for Ally and Ozzy and any unforeseen expenses that may arise as they navigate this new reality.
“Our family is surrounding Ally with love and support, but we know that the road ahead will be heavy, unpredictable, and overwhelming in ways no one can prepare for.”
The campaign is hoping to raise $30,000, and as of Monday morning, more than 92 percent of that goal has already been reached.
“Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and love as we honour Casey’s life and support the family he cherished so deeply.”
