Police charge 34-year-old in connection with hate graffiti incidents in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police have arrested a man in connection with hate-related graffiti targeting multiple locations across the city.

According to the WPS, on Jan. 2, 2026, a man spray-painted random and hate-motivated graffiti on homes, garages and vehicles in the Crescentwood area.

He also painted hate-related symbols at several community sites, including the entrance to 

Investigators with the Major Crimes Division’s Hate Crimes Section say that in the early morning hours of January second, a man spray-painted random and hate-motivated graffiti on homes, garages and vehicles in the Crescentwood area.

Police say hate-related symbols were also painted at several community sites, including the entrance to Munson Park on Wellington Crescent, the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Wellington Crescent, and the Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Community Centre and Mosque on Ellice Avenue.

With help from community reports and video surveillance, officers identified a suspect.

A 34-year-old man was arrested Jan. 8 and charged with 14 counts of mischief under $5,000.

He has since been released on an undertaking.
