Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP are investigating after a woman was mauled by a pack of dogs a week ago on the Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Mounties say the 22-year-old woman was walking along Highway 278 on Feb. 14 at around 4:10 p.m. in the community when four dogs, all described as being large, approached and attacked her.

Two people who saw the incident helped the woman escape, return home and call for help.

She was taken to hospital in Dauphin where she underwent surgery for significant injuries.

RCMP are now working with First Nation Safety Officers to determine where the dogs came from and who may be responsible.
