Over a dozen students were taken to hospital following a collision Wednesday morning involving a school bus.

Pembina Valley RCMP say they were called to the two-vehicle collision at an intersection in the RM of Lorne at around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 12.

When they arrived at the scene they found the school bus on its passenger side in the ditch, along with a pick-up truck.

An investigation determined that the pickup truck was travelling southbound on Road 66 West when it collided with the rear driver’s side of the school bus that was heading East on Road 28 North.

All 14 children on the bus, ranging in age from Kindergarten to Grade 11 evacuated before crews arrived on scene.

They were all transported to hospital as a precaution, with some of the victims transported to Winnipeg for further assessment.

The 17-year-old male driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital where he was treated and released.

Charges are pending for the driver of the pickup truck.

Pembina Valley RCMP continue to investigate.
