Siloam Mission has found the new CEO.

After an extensive search, Sonia Prevost-Derbecker has been selected and will begin next month.

Prevost-Derbecker has more than 25 years of senior leadership experience across Indigenous-led, community-based, and public-sector organizations.

She brings her experience with a strong focus on housing, mental health, child welfare, education, and community development.

Siloam Mission is excited to bring her on board as her work has consistently centred on dignity, partnership, and building systems of care that respond to community-identified needs, values that closely align with the mission. She will draw on her Christian faith that she was raised in and her Indigenous roots.

Most recently, she oversaw initiatives across Canada, Australia, the United States, and New Zealand as Global Director of Indigenous Men’s Mental Health Programs with Movember.

Other senior leadership roles include with Indspire, the Point Douglas Revitalization Initiative, Ndinawemaaganag Endaawaad (Ndinawe), All Nations Coordinated Response Child and Family Services (ANCR), and the Métis Child and Family Services Board. During her leadership experience, she has helped strengthen more than 25 community programs and services.

Prevost-Derbecker’s experience, faith, values, and deep understanding of community-led systems led Siloam Mission to select her for the role, believing she will lead the mission with stability, integrity, and a strong focus on impact.

She is excited to be working in Winnipeg again and lead Siloam Mission as a place of care, dignity, and hope for all.

Prevost-Derbecker will take over from Interim CEO Julianne Aitken. Siloam Mission’s Board of Directors said in an email release, “The Board extends sincere thanks to Interim CEO Julianne Aitken, the leadership team, and all staff for their strong, steady leadership over the past year, ensuring continuity of care and services during a time of transition. Julianne will remain with the organization and is returning to her role as Director, Programs and Services.”

As the transition of leadership is made, the Board is confident that Prevost-Derbecker will lead the mission well and keep the momentum going, as the community has helped build and strengthen community relationships.

Prevost-Derbecker will officially begin as CEO on February 17, 2026.
