Two people, a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, were arrested over the weekend after allegedly threatening a 24-year-old woman with a gun at an Island Lakes apartment complex.
Winnipeg police say the incident happened just after 2 a.m. on Saturday in an apartment building in the 1500 block of Warde Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the 24-year-old victim in the lobby. They quickly learned that she had gone to a suite to meet with a friend when she became involved in an argument. A man, also in the suite, pulled out a shotgun and threatened the victim. She fled the suite and called police.
With help from the Tactical Support Team, the man and woman were arrested from the suite, just after 2:30 a.m.
Later that day, a search warrant was executed on the suite, and police seized an unloaded Winchester 12-gauge shotgun.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
A 28-year-old man faces a long list of charges, including possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and failure to comply with condition of release order x4.
He remains in custody.
The 23-year-old woman was released without charge.
