As the holiday season wraps up, several businesses and services will have different hours to ring in the New Year.
Here is a list of what is open and closed on Thursday, January 1, 2026.
Malls
- Outlet Collection Winnipeg- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- CF Polo Park Shopping Centre- Closed
- St. Vital Shopping Centre- 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

City Services
All civic offices are closed all day on Thursday, January 1.
Recycling & Garbage Collection
There will be no recycling and garbage collection on New Year’s Day. If your collection day falls on or after the holiday, please put your carts out one day later. For example, if your collection day normally falls on Thursday, put your carts out on Friday. If your collection day normally falls on Friday, put your carts out on Saturday.

All fitness & leisure centres are closed on Thursday, January 1.
Cemeteries
Brookside, Transcona, and St. Vital cemeteries are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Administration Office at Brookside Cemetery will be closed on Thursday, January 1.
