A 31-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly tracing child sexual abuse images shared online to a local residence.
Winnipeg police say between October 4 and February 4, 2025, a series of photographs and videos depicting child sexual abuse and exploitation were uploaded to a social media platform.
The National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), which gathers information about missing and sexually exploited children, traced the I.P. address to a residence in Winnipeg and provided the information to the RCMP’s National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre in Canada (NCECC).
In April 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s ICE unit took over the investigation, identified the suspect and obtained a search warrant for his residence.
On Dec. 19, the search warrant was executed in a home in the 100 block of Nassau Street North, and the 31-year-old man was arrested without incident.
The 31-year-old is now facing three charges related to child sexual abuse and exploitation.
He was released with conditions prohibiting access to the internet and anyone under 18.
The ICE Unit continues to investigate.
