Trollinger Law Honors Local First Responders with 2025 Hometown Heroes Awards

Trollinger Law LLC has announced the recipients of its 2025 Hometown Heroes Awards, celebrating the remarkable contributions of local first responders to the Southern Maryland community. This annual initiative highlights individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to public safety and community engagement, setting a standard for service and leadership.

Among the honorees is Retired Sgt. Gus Proctor, whose three-decade tenure with the Charles County Sheriff’s Department and ongoing community work, including leading the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Maryland, has made a lasting impact. Lt. Everett West of the Maryland State Police is recognized for his leadership and community outreach programs, such as the Kids and Cruisers Car Show and Shop With a Cop, which have fostered positive relationships between law enforcement and the community. Carl Schinner, with nearly 40 years in law enforcement, is celebrated for his innovative community safety initiatives and advocacy for inclusive policing during his tenure as Chief of Police for the La Plata Police Department.

These awards underscore the importance of recognizing the individuals who go above and beyond their call of duty to make a difference in their communities. The honorees will be celebrated at DC United games this summer and during Trollinger Law’s First Responders Night at the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game on September 13. Their stories of service and dedication serve as a reminder of the critical role first responders play in ensuring public safety and fostering community spirit.
