Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback, Zach Collaros got a shout-out from his former college roommate ahead of Super Bowl LIX.

During media day, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was asked about the recent success of the Chiefs compared to the consecutive Grey Cup runs from the Bombers. Kelce is making his third straight appearance in the Super Bowl compared to Collaros who went to the last five Grey Cups.

“Zacharelli, man. That’s my guy right there,” Kelce said to media. “The Big Red great. Steubenville’s finest, right there. I’ve got so much love for Zach. I’ve always been chasing his coattails. But as a college roommate with him, I just love everything he’s been able to do up there in Canada. And obviously a brotherhood that’ll never be broken.”

While the two don’t see each other as frequently, they stay in touch and support each other’s big games, such as when the Bombers went to the 111th Grey Cup in 2024 and Kelce wore a Collaros jersey on his podcast, New Heights.

Collaros won’t be at the Super Bowl on Sunday, but was able to go to the AFC Championship game in Kansas City when the Chiefs beat the Bills 32-29.

“It was a blast,” Collaros said in an interview. “What an environment Kansas City is. It’s always nice to sit back and watch the game as a fan. It’s a lot of fun. That was a heck of a game. It was really nice to see him after that game.”

On Sunday, the Chiefs will look to do something the Bombers couldn’t pull off: win three straight championships. A victory would also mark the first time a team has won back-to-back-to-back Super Bowls.

The Philadelphia Eagles will play the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX at Caesar’s Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. CST.
